Misery Index - Heirs To Thievery
2010 - Relapse
From the start Misery Index have always made a big impression on me. The Dying Fetus past of the guys must have had something to do with that. In the beginning there were parallels in the sound, nowadays the band has developed a quite unique sound. The previous record ‘Traitors’ was killer and on ‘Heirs To Thievery’ the band strikes again.
With tons of energy but with feel for musicality the brutal mix of death and grind blows out of the speakers. It’s heavy stuff but with strong composed songs. Within this frame the band from time to time experiments in a way that you feel even more that Misery Index have created a genre of their own. Think that says it all.

Hellbeyond - The Strongest Stand Last
2010 - Rottrevore
With a massive production and more musicality then we are used to from Indonesia, Hellbeyond is the bomb. The band differs from other Indonesian bands who often are more or less copying the sound of Disgorge.
Hellbeyond seem much more accessible with a lot of feel for groove. The fat production definitely saves the band because despite the refreshing ideas it’s a lot of the same. Not a lot of excitement but the perfect sound and tight playing it works and that ‘s what counts.

Colonize The Rotting - Composting The Masticated
2010 - Sevared
 If the demo didn’t convince you then this 6 track debut should do the job. The band has 35 minutes to convince you. The songs are long but well-structured with the typical Californian death metal sound and atmospheric Morbid Angel influences.
Not surprising if you know that band leader Alex Colon used the same recipe in his former band Flesh Consumed. Nothing wrong with that since both bands are of a very high level. Who would have expected that Colonize The Rotting would deliver one of the better releases in 2010 with their debut.
